Guitar Pro Editor Online Free - Open GP5, GPX & MusicXML

A tab editor that runs in the browser. Open a Guitar Pro or MusicXML file, hear it played back, change any note, and export the result. No install, no license key.

What you can open

GP3, GP4, GP5, GPX, GP, MusicXML, XML, MXL, along with Capella (.capx) files and alphaTex, a plain-text tab notation you can write in any text editor. Older Guitar Pro versions load too: GP3 and GP4 files from twenty years ago render the same as a fresh GP5 export.

Editing that covers real tabs

Click a string and type the fret number. Beyond single notes there are chords, ties, and hammer-ons, plus measure-level tools: insert, delete, copy and paste whole bars. A score can hold several tracks, and each one keeps its own tuning, so a 4-string bass line sits next to a 7-string guitar part without either breaking. Transpose a track when the song needs a different key. Undo history covers all of it.

Playback in the browser

The built-in synthesizer plays the score with a beat cursor following along, and each track can be muted or soloed on its own. Practicing a solo over the rhythm section means muting one track, not exporting anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Guitar Pro editor free?

Opening files, editing, playback, and exporting to Guitar Pro, MIDI, or alphaTex are free. PDF and MusicXML export are part of the Pro plan. Saving tabs to your library needs an account, which is also free.

Do I need Guitar Pro installed?

No. Everything runs in the browser. When you export a .gp file it opens in Guitar Pro 7 and 8 with bends, slides, and hammer-ons intact, but nothing has to be installed to edit or play tabs here.

Which file formats can I open?

GP3, GP4, GP5, GPX, GP, MusicXML, XML, MXL, plus Capella (.capx) and plain-text alphaTex. Drop a file exported from Guitar Pro, MuseScore, TuxGuitar, or Soundslice and it renders as editable tab.

Can I turn an audio recording into a tab here?

That happens in the converter, which takes audio, MIDI, and public media links and drafts the tab for you. This editor is where you open that draft, or any existing file, to fix and finish it.

Does the editor work on a phone?

Yes. Tap a string to place notes and use the on-screen note tools; playback works the same as on desktop. The keyboard shortcuts are desktop-only.

Starting from a recording instead of a file? The audio to guitar tab converter drafts the tab first, then hands it to this editor. More tools live on the Tabtify home page.
