Guitar Pro to PDF

Turn a Guitar Pro file into a printable PDF

Drop in a GP5, GPX, or older GP file and read it right here. Pick the tracks you want on the page, then print it or save it as PDF. No Guitar Pro licence needed.

A Guitar Pro file opened as guitar tablature in Tabtify

Every Guitar Pro version, one editor

Tab files get passed around in whatever format the person who wrote them happened to use. A 2004 GP4 and a current GPX both open the same way here.

Reads GP, GP3, GP4, GP5, and GPX files from any Guitar Pro version.
Also opens MusicXML, XML, MXL, Capella, and alphaTex in the same editor.
Nothing to install, and the file never leaves your session unless you save it.

From file to printed page

  1. 1

Open your Guitar Pro file in the browser editor.

  2. 2

Check the tracks you want on the page and mute the ones you do not.

  3. 3

Adjust layout details like tempo, title, and track order if they need fixing.

  4. 4

Choose PDF from the export menu, then print or save the result.

Printing a long score

Page breaks are decided by this editor, not by Guitar Pro, so a long arrangement can split at different bars than you are used to. Check the print preview before you commit a stack of paper to it, and hide unused tracks to save pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Tabtify's AI-powered guitar tab creation platform. From audio conversion to professional export formats.

Do I need Guitar Pro installed to do this?

No. The file opens in the browser, which is the whole point if you were sent a GP5 and do not own the software.

Which Guitar Pro versions can it read?

GP, GP3, GP4, GP5, and GPX all open. That covers files going back to Guitar Pro 3 as well as the current versions.

How do I actually get the PDF file?

Picking PDF in the export menu opens your browser's print dialog with the tab laid out. From there choose Save as PDF, or send it to a printer if you want paper.

Can I print only the guitar part from a full band file?

Yes. Mute or hide the tracks you do not want before exporting, and only what is left goes onto the page.

Is PDF export free?

PDF is part of the Pro plan. Opening the file, playing it back, and exporting MIDI, Guitar Pro, or alphaTex are all free.

Will the tab look the same as it does in Guitar Pro?

Close, but not pixel identical. Notes, rhythm, bends, and slides carry over. Page breaks and spacing are laid out by this editor, so long scores can break differently.

I only want to read the file, not print it. Is that free?

Yes, and no account is needed either. Opening a Guitar Pro file, reading the tab, and playing it back cost nothing. PDF is the paid step because it is an export, not a view.

Can I print standard notation instead of tab?

Whatever the file carries is what prints. Most Guitar Pro files hold both staves, so you can hide the one you do not want before exporting and print notation only, tab only, or both.

Does the file get uploaded anywhere?

Not unless you save it. Opening a file reads it in your browser session, so a tab you only want to look at or print never gets stored on our side.
